About Build It
Simon Barron began his building career in Auckland by studying for 2 years before finding employment with a construction firm in 1995.
By 1998 he was certain of his passion for building and so began a formal apprenticeship in 1998, becoming a Qualified Carpenter in 2002.
Over the next 12 years he gained a vast array of skills and expertise in many different areas of the construction industry.
While with various employers, Simon was involved in several high-profile projects such as Sky City Casino Hotels, The America’s Cup Village in Auckland’s Viaduct Basin and Auckland Airport.
Auckland gave Simon a great start to his construction career and provided endless learning opportunities for 21 years however, being a family man at heart meant that a move to Christchurch was the logical next step.
After the earthquake in 2010, health and safety was at the forefront of all those concerned with the building and construction industry. Simon therefore ensured that Built It became a member of Hazard Co in order to get a good understanding of the complexities relevant to the time.
